Big Ole School Blues

Sometimes school can be a little rough
Scary math problems, yeah all kinds of stuff

Well, I was there at my locker
Tryin’ to find some homework
When my grape juice box gave way
and squirted all over my shirt
Doubled over tryin’ to hide the disaster
fell down to my knees
Anybody out there to help me please
Crawled my way to the closest restroom
Knew I’d need some more fruit of the looms (t-shirt)
Sometimes I need just a little good news
I guess I have the big ole school blues

Then I was sittin’ in class
Lots of rules but I was obeyin’
When I felt somethin’ rumble deep inside
yesterday’s pinto beans, I’m just sayin’
what we call a little dilemma
slowly raised my hand, requested a pass
Then there was thunder, oh I better leave fast
As the pass was written before I could leave
happened to see someone’s nose in their sleeve
Sometimes I need just a little good news
I guess I have the big ole school blues

Then I was standin’ in the lunch line
Dropped my last dollar fifteen
Like a runaway pack of coins
they rolled under the coke machine
Dropped to the floor and crouched down low
To maybe salvage a quarter
Heard a split in my pants, oh I can’t take much moe
Then I grabbed my trusty backpack
But the teacher said you can’t wear that
Sometimes I need just need a little good news
I guess I have the big ole school blues

Then I was ridin’ the bus
On my way home
When I drifted off to sleep
And later that night was the only one on
I called out to anyone close
Where are you busdriver?
Black cat walked by, was white as a ghost
Then I heard a clap of thunder
Oh what kind of spell am I under
Sometimes I need just a little good news
I guess I have the big ole school bus blues

Finally walked thru the door
Back home at last
Mom saw I was a bit of a mess
said How was your day, oh please don’t ask
Then it hit me, after all those tribulations
I’m still movin’ on
yeah I’m now thinkin’ I’ll be the next sensation
we all know about life’s potholes
I’ll never give up, just how I roll
I’ll just keep movin’ on with bad news
I know we all have our future to choose

Well, I woke up this morning

and stumbled out of bed
Grabbed my cheetos off the counter
but the bully ate them instead
Shuffled in to class with fear in my bones
Tried to act real cool
but my knees were wobbly, felt like a fool
Then ole so and so kept stepping on my toes
Just don’t know if I can take much moe
Sometimes I just need a little good news
Yeah I guess I have the big ole school blues

Believe it or not I was a kid once
had long curly hair and brought a sack lunch
I remember those days, I remember those nights
I’d eat macaroni to my heart’s delight
But along came the bullies about the 3rd grade
They’d push a little, poke and punch
yeah, I was a little afraid
And then one day, as I was pushed around
A new friend picked me up off the ground
She said I don’t think so, this is my friend
I don’t think so, don’t want to see that again
I made a note, I wrote this down
I’ll turn this in and we’ll turn it around

Believe it or not I was a kid once

we’d say I don’t think so, this is my friend

I’ll turn this in, we’ll turn this around
Well, I woke up this morning
and stumbled out of bed
Grabbed my homework off the counter
but it was my sisters instead
Shuffled in to homeroom with my hair a mess
Tried to act real cool
but my knees were wobbly and I felt like a fool
Then ole so and so kept bringin’ me down low
Just don’t know if I can take much moe
Sometimes I just need a little good news
I guess I have the just feelin sad blues
Believe it or not I was a kid once
Yeah, I looked like a bean pole
And brought a sack lunch
I remember those days, I remember those nights
I’d eat macaroni to my heart’s delight
But then along came the doubts about the 7th grade
I didn’t like my hair, my body or the way I walked
Couldn’t find my way out, the more I talked
And then one day, feeling especially down,
A new friend picked me up off the ground
He said I don’t think so, you’re one of a kind
I don’t think so, someone like you you’ll never find
One of a kind original, plum full of potential
So make a note, write this down
There’s only one you, only one you aroundand say I don’t think so, you’re one of a kind
I don’t think so, someone like you you’ll never find
One of a kind original, plum full of potential
So make a note, write this down
There’s only one you, only one you around
We all came together
and decided right then
We’d be on the lookout for bullies
Change your ways, and we’ll be friends
If they say bbbb, bbbut I have a bully too
Tell ‘em we’ll say I don’t think so
We’re not going to allow this any moe
And if we see someone feelin’ kinda down
We’ll let em know we’re glad they’re around
At all times we know we can be the good news
We all know it’s our future to choose
At all times we know we can be the good news
We all know it’s our future to choose
